Patricia Rodriguez, Psy.D.Trained in New York City Patricia Rodriguez, Psy.D. has extensive experience in child and adult psychotherapy with individuals from a diverse range of socioeconomic, racial and cultural backgrounds. Her training with a variety of treatment modalities, such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, play and family therapy, allows her to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. Dr. Rodriguez’s warm and open style helps clients feel comfortable while tackling serious issues. Her overarching goal of treatment is to help clients develop insight into the underlying causes of the troubles they are experiencing, while simultaneously helping individuals develop skills to manage these challenges and begin to experience relief.

Dr. Rodriguez has a subspecialty in Addiction Psychology; working with individuals with anxiety, mood, and thought disorders, and concurrent substance use or other addictive behaviors. She has extensive training and experience administering psychological assessments, as well as psychoeducational assessments. Fluent in Spanish and English, Dr Rodriguez is available to complete bilingual evaluations as well.

Dr. Rodriguez received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia with a Major in Psychology. She completed her graduate studies at Pace University, New York City campus and received a M.S. Ed. in Bilingual School Psychology and her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Her APA accredited internship at Woodhull Medical Center, in Brooklyn, NY provided her with varied clinical experiences working with children, families, and adults in inpatient, and outpatient psychiatric clinics and sparked her interest in addiction psychology. Following completion of her internship year, she completed her post-doctoral training requirements as the Coordinator of an Intensive Treatment Program for individuals with substance use disorders in Long Beach, NY. Dr. Rodriguez then accepted a supervising psychologist position at Woodhull Medical Center in the Chemical Dependency outpatient clinic, where she provided psychological services to individual struggling with addictions and other mental health issues and was an active faculty member supervising psychology interns and externs. Simultaneously, Dr. Rodriguez taught doctoral level courses in Psychological Assessment at Pace University, before moving to Virginia.
