Kari Faye Evans, Psy.D.

Kari F. Evans, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in working with children, teenagers and their families. She is an engaging and dynamic individual and group psychotherapist who is also skilled in providing consultation to parents regarding school-based issues and parenting.

Dr. Evans has extensive experience working with children coping with ADHD; aggression and oppositional behaviors; pervasive developmental disorders; social issues; adjustment disorders; depression and anxiety. She has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, school settings, inpatient facilities, and private practice. In addition to providing therapy, Dr. Evans also has expertise in conducting educational and psychological evaluations.

In addition to working with children and adolescents, Dr. Evans also works with adults. She has experience treating symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as challenges associated with life changes, interpersonal relationships, divorce and traumatic experiences. Her work with adults incorporates elements of psychoeducation, self-esteem building, and empowerment. When working with adults in couples therapy, she is skilled in assisting her clients with learning better methods of communication, decision making, and strengthening their relationships.

Dr. Evans employs a variety of strategies including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and systemic therapy to further empower clients to make healthy and adaptive decisions. She has been serving clients for the past fifteen years. Dr. Evans is also an Ambassador for the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Evans earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, as well as a Master’s in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Women’s Studies. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Chestnut Lodge Hospital in Rockville, MD, where she was the administrator for a 12-bed residential treatment facility for adolescents. Her post-doctoral work was completed in Evanston , WY and involved private practice work with adolescents and adults, as well as facilitating forensic evaluations with incarcerated patients.
